NHA Chapter Program
This program aims to create a dynamic network of students dedicated to advancing mental health awareness and neurological research. By becoming part of the NHA community, students can contribute significantly to the field of mental health while earning valuable volunteer hours and gaining recognition for their efforts.
Charter Club Benefits
Research Opportunities
-
Scientific Abstracts and Posters: Students receive guidance and support to create scientific abstracts and posters. These submissions are reviewed for potential publication in scientific journals, leveraging NHA's nonprofit status to improve acceptance chances.
-
Webinars and Workshops: Members have access to webinars and workshops on research methodologies, data analysis, and academic writing.
Volunteer Hours and PVSA Award
-
Article Writing: Members earn two PVSA-approved volunteer hours each month by writing medical-related articles for the NHA website. Monthly themes and topics guide article creation, ensuring a diverse range of relevant content. The best quality article each month receives special recognition on the NHA website and nonprofit Instagram page @neurohealthalliance.
-
Local Volunteer Activities: Chapters organize local volunteer events, such as card-making for patients or booths at farmers' markets, promoting community involvement and mental health awareness.
Educational Workshops and Seminars
-
Guest Speakers: Regular workshops and online seminars feature guest speakers such as psychologists, neuroscientists, and mental health advocates.
-
Training Sessions: Members participate in hands-on activities, simulations, and training sessions on mental health first aid and peer support, equipping them with the skills to assist others in distress. Through these trainings, participants may also be prepped for certifications, such as CPR, AED, Basic First Aid, PALS, ACLS, etc.
Charter Club Structure and Responsibilities
Leadership Roles
-
Each chapter has a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, reporting to the State Branch Lead. Leaders organize events, manage communications, and ensure the chapter meets its goals and objectives.
Monthly Meetings
-
Chapters hold monthly meetings to discuss upcoming events, article themes, and research opportunities. These meetings serve as a platform for members to share their progress, seek advice, and collaborate on projects.
Article Submission and Review

-
Members submit their articles by the end of each month for review. A panel of NHA advisors evaluate the articles based on quality, relevance, and originality. The best article is featured on the NHA website and social media platforms.
Research Project Support
-
NHA provides resources and mentorship to help students develop their research projects, including structuring abstracts, designing posters, and navigating the publication process. Completed research projects are reviewed by NHA before submission to scientific journals.
